I couldn't find the original thread, couldn't remember what it was called.
I get the newsletter from the bumblebee conservation trust and they have a bit to say about the dead bees,
The newsletter is always interesting and worth signing up for

At some point, I must do a survey of the differing bees. We must have at least 5 types in the garden. solitary bees in the lawn, tree bees, and bumble bees. I had not realised there were cuckoo bees as well.
maybe I'll make bees next year's in depth study. Theory over the winter, bees in summer.
