Get it off your chest
It,s nice to talk to fellow and fellowesses gardener,s,and to talk to people that understand one and aother. My wife has no intrest in gardening at all.people find it strange when they ask what i would like as a present and i reply with,a bag of compost please.I am not materialistic but i love my little 6x4 green house and garden.and the satisfaction of watching something grow from seed into something of great beauty.i also enjoy a glass of wine in the evening and sit back and admire my work until sundown or it starts raining.
What about you?

Hi Diddy. As someone who now lives in a property with a garden for the first time in oh best part of 20 years I think, I have to say that there is so much pleasure, as you say, in watching things grow and spending time outdoors enjoying the garden (have also consumed 1 or 2 glasses of wine outside!). I even found myself sitting outside in the early morning during winter when it was frosty and -3, just because I could! and when the sky is blue when its cold like that I think there is nothing finer. I'll be enjoying the garden again to all its full potential come next spring (to our absolute delight and amazement, come this spring, the bank at the back of the house sprung into life, where previously we'd thought it was just a barren expanse of land) and we didn't have to plant a thing there! Happy days
I bore my hubby something silly talking about plants lol I can always tell the exact second that he 'switches off' hehehe
Due to my horrid neighbour, I can't have a glass of wine in the garden. She seems to think that just because I nodded off on the lawn after a hard day digging, that I must have been steaming drunk, and that she must contact Social Services to tell them that I'm a hopeless drunk....... hmm
Emma, why not really get steaming drunk and tell old prune face exactly where she can go?
Oh no Emma that's terrible. The reporting bit by the neighbour I mean, not the nodding off in the garden (how could you??!!!). Some people unfortunately seem to have nothing better to do than become holier than thou, just feel sorry for her, she must live a very boring and sad life to be so interested in watching you sleeping!
I think next time you should make sure you nod off with a wine bottle in your hand and really give her something to get her teeth into
hehe she's the real life Hyacinth Bouquet....... her hubby mows their lawn, trims the edges and then HOOVERS the clippings. Lawns still riddled in weeds though, so that's an epic fail right there eh
Send them a bottle of wine, with your compliments.
What is the point of having a garden if you cannot sit or lay in it "emma "you know what i mean dont you?.I even have breakfast in mine.in fact our dinning room get,s very little use now.I am not looking forward to spring though,i get easily bored if i have nothing to do.
My wife has done literally nothing to our garden but likes to give her opinion. She is one that likes to 'see soil' and then compan about the weeds growing because of it. Her parents are the same (their garden is all patio and gravel and almost no plants!). I prefer the verdant look with lots of growth cramed in. They seem to moan about everthing, even the amount of time I spend on the garden (which is after work and the kids away to bed!).
you sound just like me mate,it has taken me 36 year's to teach my wife to distinguish a weed to a plant.I must have a medical problem, because i just cannot stop growing thing's.My garden has just a couple of boarders with a long length water fall flowing into a 6x8 pond. The rest is hard land scaped and decking areas,as the grond is clay and is realy bad in the winter but i do make up with lots of pots filled to the brim with tropical plants,All of my perrenials are in the boarder,s.
I have several areas where i can chose to sit around the garden as i prefer the shade,i hate the sun on me,it wears me down.
I love my garden like you Diddy my wife is the same never see her put a weed in 17 years and never will but she dose like to sit in the garden ( about 6 or 7 times a year)
I sit in the evening with a drink, whether it's coffee or wine most nights even as soon as I wake up I can be found sitting out with my dogs and a coffee.
I'm busy getting ready to put up my greenhouse small 8x6 but that hasn't stopped me from sowing seeds and taking cuttings most of my cuttings are in the kitchen window and seed tray's can be found in my conservatory. They will stay in and around the house until my greenhouse is built. I am building a wooden shuttering ready for concrete in two weeks as that’s when I get paid.
I think I'm on three BBQ'S a week at the moment where all my family comes and enjoys my garden and a free meal.
