lill-ie-problem

hi everyone...im reletively new to gardening...but this year was proud to produce some lovely scented lillies that smelt lovely...i followed the information on them and when the leaves started to fall i picked out the middle stem to promote more flowering...however they did not flower and the buds that looked like they were going to flower turned black and shriveled up and i have had no second flowers????? do lillies only flower once or did i do something wrong....

    Lilies in my experience flower once. After flowering you can feed and keep them well watered to help the plant build up the bulb again in order to produce flowers next year.

    Hi Dianegardening, lilies only flower once, I dead head mine, let the leaves die off and then cut the stem down and they come back again next year.
