The Chateaux are wonderful. I live in France and have seen several. Chenonceau is beautiful and has lovely gardens, formal and the farm potager, Azay-le-Rideau is surrounded by water and is very pretty, Chambord is huge and magnificent but was never lived in so hasn't much in the way of furnishings, Cheverny is beautifully decorated. Clos St. Lucé was the small chateau that was owned by Leonardo da Vinci, he died there, and it has models of machines he designed, small ones in the house and big ones in the gardens, interesting.Try looking some up on Google. Well worth a visit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

What are you looking for exactly? A coach trip from England, a package holiday, or travelling yourselves to France and doing day tours?
If you are looking for a coach trip there are several on Google with reviews from previous customers like this one which seems reasonably priced http://www.shearings.com/europe/france/holidays/loire-valley
