apple-tree-growth-problems

Hi we moved into a new house no too long ago and the house has two apple trees in the garden.

One of the apple trees appears to be doing fine but the other is doing so well.

The leaves are sparse on the branches and some the leaves are small and brown - I've attached some images.

Does anyone know why this would be.

The last photo shows some kind o bracket fungus growing on the tree.  These fungi attack the heartwood and indicate this is rotten.  The tree won't recover, unfortunately, and could become dangerous as the wood has now lost all of its strength. I'd advise that you have this tree felled as soon as possible to avoid possible injuries as branches could fall off at any time.  The good news is that it won't spread to the other tree.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
