I have a 4 green house grown garden tomato plants with plenty of thick lush green foliage and lots of great yellow blooms but appart from 3 ripe, and 8 green tomatoes on two plant nothing has borne fruit.

They are fed once per week with westland tomato food and watered every 2 to 3 days

being new to all this growing malarkey i dont know if i, doing anything wrong could anybody please advise?

    David, a couple of things. If they're in a greenhouse, you probably need to give them a hand with pollination. Toms are self-pollinating but the pollination process is helped along outdoors by insects and even the breeze. Any movement of the flowers can help trigger the internal mechanics that bring about pollination. Indoors, you can help out by giving the flowers a gentle flick with your fingers.

    I think you're also overfeeding them. Toms aren't big feeders and will produce better if left more to their own devices. Toms exist to reproduce themselves - by producing fruit - and they're more likely to feel the need to reproduce if they feel a bit threatened. Cut back on the watering and stop feeding them. See what happens.

    I've followed Italophile's guidance this year and after 30 yrs of growing toms I've got the best crop ever.image Think in the past I've fed them too much and overwatered.

    Although I've not been growing as long as you, I've taken Italophile's adivse for a couple of years now and my plants this year are buckling under the weight of the crop. All fruiting at least a month earlier than last year, I'm every so pleased as they'll hopefully continue now until me thinks the end of September, early Octoberimage.

    If your not having much success with this type of tomato try the out door type, they are very hardy, I currently have 10 tomato plants in 30cm pots outdoors and they are still giving fruit, though they are withering now in at the end of October, they were fed twice a week on the tomato feed from Wilkinsons.
