pruning-rhododendron-
I have a rhodo that I planted in 2010. We are on heavy clay, so dug out a not very large area and filled it with rhodo compost. This is what it looked like in it's first year: -

It has grown a bit and is now this size, growing over plants in the next bed.

I searched GW.com for pruning rhodo's but did not find anything, and some people say it can be killed off by pruning.
Does anyone have experience of successful rhodo pruning ? because advice would be appreciated.. Also, I get concerned it will eventually give up growing because of the size of the bed I put it in - is this likely ?

I pruned mine last week cut 7 foot of the top of it! However it probably won't flower next year... If pruned hard they tend not to flower next year
