Two trees to ID please

Hi, this tree is in a neighbour’s garden. It looks like a continus / smoke bush leaf, but it’s small tree sized and a different colour to mine (the purple one).

This is mine and I have been thinking it’s a damson tree, as there is another quite close to it. No damsons though, or any other fruit or flowers. I have had this awful thought now that it’s a goat willow, as I get a lot of them shooting up.

@a1154 The first looks like Cotinus Grace. Fantastic at this time of year will rival any Acer when back lit by the sun. It has a more lax habit than the purple form
Looking forward to my new garden with clay soil here in South Notts.

Gardening is so exciting I wet my plants.

Your  tree (2ND pic) reminds me of mine, see above thread, in case it helps you to decide!

    1 and 2. Agree Cotinus.
3 and 4. Looks like a weedy willow. Salix sp. Salix caprea probably.

1 and 2 I was really after the type of cotinus, is it grace? I’ll definitely go buy one.

You are kidding! yikes. I’ve been looking after it thinking it was going to be a nice tree. I’m going to take it out if it’s willow. Damn.

Not completely sure how to id positively.
Cotinus obovatus would be another suggestion...details below.

    Cotinus grace.

    Quote from above.

"Cotinus 'Grace' is a hybrid between the American chittamwood (Cotinus obovatus) and a variety of the Venetian sumac (C. coggygria `Velvet Cloak'). Raised by Peter Dummer, propagator at Hillier's nursery, in Winchester, in the late 1970s and named after his wife. It is a vigorous shrub with rounded, rich purple leaves to 10cm long, turning reddish in autumn, and large feathery deep pink fruiting plumes.  It is a 'lighter' colour than Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple' and isn't as an intense purple, but more like a reddish-green; making it easier to pair colours!"

    Pics below are Grace.

Great pics and info thank you SS.

Still hoping I don’t have a goat willow. Looked like a nice tree.
