Here we are again, with a new thread for a new month … a few days ago, we were marooned in the terrible floods in mid Suffolk, and my son and I experienced first hand the amazing support and kindness of strangers in a little community.

In a world that can seem scary and uncertain, the little community on this forum has shown over and over again that we too can show kindness, support and good company to folk we may never have met … old and new friends are always welcome here … so pull up a comfy chair … the kettle’s always on … there may even be cake later …

You have set the scene beautifully @Dovefromabove, thank you for keeping our thread going. Just one question… what cake are we having? 😃

    Morning all and G’day @Pat E

I’ve just done two long shifts so having a lazy morning. The council leaf clearing machine was super loud first thing though!

I haven’t caught up with you all the last few days, so I hope everything is under control! Take care with the next instalment of Autumn weather folks.

Green bins out last night for today’s collection. Just having breakfast before we head out to the retail park for plumbing supplies ( plus a sneaky detour into Dunelm, a couple of towels on my shopping list but really just a good excuse for a look round, I love the place!)
Anticipating we will be staying close to home for the next couple of days, given the weather warnings, so hopefully there will still be some cake left when we get back, @Dovefromabove!

Morning all, thank you for starting the November thread @Dovefromabove I will pop in for a cuppa a bit later when we have been shopping. Although it's a bank holiday today Bricomarche is open and has a discount offer and OH needs more loft insulation, so needs must!

There are many good people on this forum, but you are the heart and soul of it in my (johnny-come-lately) opinion @Dovefromabove

Here all the schools on this island are shut for a week due to Halloween.  I didn't get any trick-or-treaters due to the demographics on this street (no children currently of the right age).  I did have a stock of sweets to hand out, so now I'll have to find a way of giving them to various parents in the coming days.  There was a fireworks display last night down at the harbour, and a big get-together of my extended family, neither of which I attended.  As the harbour master pointed it this morning, it was very unwise having lots of people so close to deep, cold water in pitch darkness and distracted by looking up.  Happily nothing bad happened.

There is flooding of up to 2 metres in other parts of the district.  Thank goodness no reported fatalities so far.

We're battening down the hatches for another storm tonight - looks like this one could hit us quite hard

Morning Forkers. Firstly, apologies Dove for the marriage slip up,yes, it was "someone else", I PM. Long story short gradually getting back to me after Covid,5 .5 weeks ago, last 3 weeks, getting more breathless. Hearing center yesterday, Covid has left me very deaf. Dentist, had to go back to the car. Feeling unwell,111, paramedic ambulance spent the night in hospital, they are happy with ECG and cardiac enzymes, but have confirmed "long Covid", and having cardiology review just to make sure that it hasn't b******d my heart!
