Can I mend my toasted sandwich maker?

B3B3 Posts: 26,505
I came across an old toasted sandwich maker. The clip that held the handles broke and was probably thrown away. I have another better quality one but the broken one has additional panini and waffle plates so I'd like to use it if possible. I was thinking along the lines of a large enough  bulldog clip - if such a thing exists. I remember having a go with the largest one I could find but it the jaws barely opened wide enough and it just slid off. Has anyone got a better idea?

Could we have a photo to get the idea? I’m a stranger to toasted sandwich makers. My OH usually makes quite nice ones under the grill. 😊

Google 'G Clamps'. They come in various sizes.

    Thanks @Balgay.Hill I'll do that.
It's in a climb up on a chair cupboard. Will fish it down later @pansyface😊

@Balgay.Hill. That looks just the kind of thing. Will get  a cheapo somewhere. It doesn't need a lot of strength.

Not an elegant solution, but could you not just put a brick on it?

Last resort @Loxley. How much do I really need A panini?

I’ve just looked at those G clamps. That’s the sort of thing I was thinking might work, as long as the plastic part is heat proof. 🤞

There are many different types. Some 100% metal, and some with plastic or rubber parts.

Have a look for a local repair café. This one is a bit far but there are others - they might have a good idea or even a part.
