they're insect eggs, probably cabbage white butterfly waiting to hatch into caterpillars to eat your cabbages. I don't kill much but I'd have those off my cabbages (if Ihad any)

thanks the cabbages did not form hearts anyway so I may just let them be so I can have some nice butterflies. I don't know why I got no cabbage hearts this year.

Nor do I comp. I know more about insects than cabbages

You are correct as usual NutC, they are Large White butterfly eggs which will hatch into caterpillars with yellow stripes and black spots.

Rub them off as soon as possible, and keep checking back.

edit: comp13, you beat me to the post ... your nice butterflies will lay eggs on every brassica and nasturtium in your neighbourhood

ok I guess I will get them off...don't laugh but I have had lots of those white butterflies in the garden this summer and I was enjoying watching them so much lol bragging to my friends about my lovely butterflies. Little did I know the damage they were causing.
