Laurel pests???

Could someone tell me if this laurel stem looks normal or are there some scaly bugs on it?? If they are bugs how do I get rid of them?

    The photo's very blurry, but it looks fine to me. 

    Do you mean the little 'rusty' marks?
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I agree not sure what the problem is from your photo. If there are bugs can you brush some off to check?

    Looks very healthy for this time of year and about to flower which is very early - may be a photo from last year?
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

    Squidge them with your finger nail.  If they don't squidge they are part of the plant.

    They might have been, and moved, so kep searching.
      location: Surrey Hills, England, cretaceous acidic sand.

    Thankyou every one. I got it into my mind ithe little brown specs were  insects. I'm a newbie so I dont really know what a healthy plant stem really looks like 😉 These pics are taken in the last few days. I live in Devon on the South West coast. We dont really have winters here and the spring comes early!!!

    @georgecooper1.uk Looks very happy but flower buds in early February, nature is very confused it would seem. Staying observant, always a good thing for all of us gardeners. Suze.
