  • @punkdoc I've always wanted to explore the Highlands (furthest I've been is around Aberdeen area) but haven't yet got the chance. South West is where I feel at home though.

@LunarSea - so nice to hear of someone else loves those places too, everyone I speak to replies "Never heard of it!"

Spring will happen when it's supposed ... certainly by April.

If you know the British Isles, you'll know that Spring will happen when it's not supposed.
location: Surrey Hills, England, cretaceous acidic sand.

I loved my trip to Loch Lomond, Oban, Fort William and Fort Augustus,  my favourite views were the Loch side roads, Loch Ness (have been to the other end before) and Glen Coe in a whiteout!

As for spring I never do anything till after the third weekend in January.  It is a forgone conclusion that it will be bad weather, as its the only weekend that we have something on every year! Rain, hail, sleet, snow, fog, thunderstorm,  winds, ice, have been the weather we hit every year, so nothing gets its trim till after then.🫣🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

our crocuses and snowdrops have been flowering, daffs have plenty of buds that are ready to open, harmony irises have been blooming ... hyacinths are poking out of the ground .. tulips are out as well.. and plenty of buds of several trees around the garden!

Will be planting our Summer bulbs on the 2nd week of April after the last frost in our location :-)

    Early signs of spring?

The squirrels are having a gang bang on the lawn. 🙄
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.

the Highlands and beyond Aberdeen have many sceneries that one can enjoy particularly if you are a nature lover, the coastal lines are undescribeably beautiful especially, when you get the sunshine ... the only disadvantage to non-native residents, one will experience many micro-climates where there is a slight rain and cloudy often beyond a mile or two it is sunny and beautiful, very windy in many areas. Nevertheless, I like the highlands' environment, very pretty, calm (when not windy) and the night time with deafeaning peace and silence, the very reason we moved and bought our home hear 3+ years ago, and no one is overlooking at my backyard and around my surrounding - an extreme opposite from the urban noise. There are many areas though that are densely populated where noise exist; but possibilities are at hand when you have the option to choose carefully.

As predicted the weather took a turn for the worse. Even February has been colder than usual! So into March and now we have flooding, in a village that has not flooded for the six years we have been here. So still waiting to do most jobs.🤷‍♀️
