What is this monster please , found in the soil and is about 35 mm long and about 12 mm thick.

    Possibly some kind of moth caterpillar ?

    Maybe a cabbage moth caterpillar?  They come in brown and green, and pupate in the soil.  They eat a variety of different plants, not just cabbages.

    However, perhaps @wild edges might have a positive ID...
