A new thread for December … to say hello and chat with friends old and new, and share the goings on of our days … so find a comfy chair, the kettle’s on … and the mince pies are warm …

Good morning and thank you @Dovefromabove. December can be the saddest month for many so it is great to have a little chat here.

Cloudy and cold here, no rain.Ā

    Have a good day all.

My apologies for my rather moaning type post yesterday evening, I was feeling a bit down for various reasons. Much better today - a new day a new month, what is there not to like. Lovely picture of Pixel PatE, thank you, made me smile. And what a fabulous amount of strawberries, the last time I tried to grow them the birds pecked them all. Do you cover or protect yours in some way?
Many thanks to @Dovefromabove for once again starting us off on a new month.
Wishing @Hostafan1 a very Happy Birthday

    Hi all

Cold and foggy again, starting to get boring.

Morning all, thanks @Dovefromabove for putting us into December!Ā
Cold and foggy here, we have the plumber popping in later to see if OH has tiled correctly where he has to install the shower fittings! I bought some bird food yesterday - what a price, they will have to look after themselves more this winter, I hope it's not a bad one. The blackbirds have eaten most of the pyracantha berries now.
Happy birthday @Hostafan1 and take it easy all who are feeling under the weather for whatever reason.

Just watched a pair of very handsome male Bullfinches eating berries fromĀ  Whitebeam.

  • I agree PD, another dull, grey, damp start here too. Will have another go at Allotments,Ā  hopefully the ground will start drying a bit in the next few days if the forecast is correct.Ā
Further to yesterday's news they played the classic version of Songbird (just Christine at the pianoĀ  and singing)on R4this morning. I remember in a documentary John (McVie) saying on one tour she played it and he would stand in the wings and well up every time.Ā  Not surprised an absolute classic.Ā

Happy birthday Hosta. Ā Hope you have a lovely family day.

I don’t cover the strawberries AnnaB. They just live in my very neglected garden. Ā I have to hold back branches of Spearmint and Lovage to even see them. šŸ™„. I need to watch out for slugs though - sneaky little so and so’s. Ā Most of our birds are Crimson Rosellas and occasionally other native species. Ā They don’t seem interested in the strawberries.

we’ve got the wood heater going tonight. Haven’t checked the outside temp, but it’s cosy in here. Ā  Strange Summer.!
