New to gardening. Looking for help

Hello all. Currently in the process of building a largish raised flower bed on my lawn. Looking to attract wildlife as well colour and greenery. Any suggestions as to what bushes shrubs etc i could put in when built. Be approx 3 meter long and 1 to 1.5 deep. Be in partial to full sun when it does come back! I will be adding more when i can but this is my 1st project. Time will be spent on it when and if needed. Any feed back much appreciated.

Hi @carlmcnaboe - when you say 1-1.5 metres deep, do you mean depth as in front to back, or depth as in height?
I'm assuming the former, but if its the latter, you'll need deep pockets to fill it!  ;)
If it is the latter, and you really want that height, you can half fill it with other things to save the expense of filling completely with soil.
Photos will really help, but one factor to bear in mind is - do you see it from your house on a regular, or full time basis? If so, it's worth having year round interest so that you enjoy it as much as the wildlife. You'll get help with that too, if that's the case  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Soon as i finished i will post some pics. Had a nightmare today. But ues i mean front to back. And ive positioned it so i can see it at all times. Many thanks
