How do I get a refund

My direct Debit was taken before I got a chance to cancel. I've cancelled it now and I would like the DD refunded. I contacted them immediately and was told someone would be in touch. Not a word.  The magazine was sent to my son at a different address and he no longer requires it. How do I get them to refund my DD

The FAQs say you’ll be given a refund for issues not yet posted to you/your son but not for issues already received. That seems fair.

If you had an introductory offer or trial subscription then …

“ An introductory offer or trial subscription is a short-term subscription (for example, 3 issues for £5) offered to new customers only. These offers are available by direct debit which automatically renew to the subscription rate advertised with the offer you redeemed.

If you do not wish to continue your subscription after the initial term of issues, please contact us after you have received your first issue and we will cancel the automatic direct debit renewal. You will continue to receive the remaining issues available to you and then your subscription will expire.”

There’s also a phone number and a postal address. Have you tried those?

Good luck!  I cancelled a direct debit with TalkTalk when I switched broadband providers.  I was out of contract and actually paid for one month more than I should have but they kept sending me demand letters, from then, then collection agencies.  I spoke to them, sent them proof of previous correspondence, something from BT and they confirmed - all sorted and the account definitely closed.  Then I got another one... I just ignored it.  No idea if this affected my credit rating (as they threatened) as I do not intend taking out any loans but for those who may need to this kind of bullying behaviour is not on!
