Split Oranges

Anyone  on here expert in orange growing ?  I have 2 trees  on  my newly acquired Greek island  garden.   The  naval oranges are splitting their rind    I would love to know what causes this 🤷‍♀️ Thanks in advance

  • Possibly the dry summer ?  Do your neighbours also grow Citrus - if so it may be worth checking with them to see what they think.
Other than growing various citrus in the UK, my only experience has been an Orange grove in SW Spain some 15 + years ago.  On the edge of the Tabernas Desert, we did have an irrigation system from the local river and never experienced splitting fruit.
@Nanny Beach grows citrus ( albeit in the UK ) but maybe she can offer some advice.

Sorry for the delay Phillipa. Yes I think hot dry weather lack of watering. We have half a dozen lemons,a calamondin, and mandarin. I find even in the UK,we don't have them in full sun.
