Long Pie Squash wrrong colour?

Hi All

Im new to growing veg and this year i had some long pie squash seeds from suttons, and i planted them in pots. 5 plants, all grew well and the first two went dark green as expected and i picked when the groundspot was orange, put them in a dark place and they are nice and orange now.  I have three more on the vine on other plants, they are larger then the previous, but they are a light green to yellow ish, never made it to dark green. I can't find much abotu long pie squash online specifically. I read that this might be mosaic virus. My questions are.
1) does this sound like mosaic?
2) are they edible?

They look so big and well formed it would be a shame to throw them out.

  • This is normal for squash picked late - they will continue to ripen (turn orange) off the plant.  Smaller ones may not ripen, so eat those first.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks Bob. So it deosn't matter that them never made it to dark green as the others went dark green while small. These always stayed light and 'washed out' looking.
    Ill pick them today

    Thank you for the response.
