Unexpected Blossom

About a month ago I had my Czar plum tree pruned and I noticed yesterday that it has started blossoming again. Obviously there won't be any further plums this year but will this affect fruit production next year?

One of my apple trees in SW France produced some blossom in early August. All the spring blossom had been killed by a late frost.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • There was barely any blossom at all in spring this year so very few plums but it had a crazy amount of fruit last year so I wasn't surprised. Just worried this blossom now will mean another lean year of plums.

You’ll just have to wait and see ,can’t answer your question I’m afraid .
  • Oh well, thought I'd ask!
  • You'll definitely get a smaller crop (as some of next year's flower buds have opened early), but hopefully still a decent one!  However, you won't be able to tell until you see how much blossom appears next Spring.

Sometime trees can put out a few blossoms as plants seem to get autumn confused with spring. I don't think it usually comes to much. I often get a few fgmns coming out now.
