No thread on the Queen?

I've double checked but can't seem to find a thread on the Queen. I know it's not gardening but it's quite big news. It makes me feel nervous, a new monarch and new prime minister at the same time. I know she didn't really get involved necessarily, but she was a reassuring constant in life. What do you all think?

  • Nervous? Why?  What do you think might happen?  I know she’d been around a long time but so has her son who watched her do the job. He’ll be just fine now he has someone who suits him to support him and give him the confidence he needed. The late queen was only 25 when she took over and we’d just had two world wars!  She did ok. King Charles will too. At least Boris has gone and although I disagree strongly  with her politics, at least Truss seems to have a better idea of how the job should be done than he ever did.

  • I don't like change 😭😄. I'm sure Charles will be OK and I'm glad that he is into the environment. I don't feel like Liz cares about the planet at all, lifting the ban on fracking, but that's a different thread.
I'm sad about it anyway, obviously we knew it was coming.

There may not have been a thread yesterday but the Queen's death was talked about on the various chat threads.

I think that Charles will make a good King. He is very aware of what is going on in the world. It's not fair to say he was adulterous. Camilla was always his first love and is the love of his life but the circumstances at the time prevented him from marrying her. He was under a lot of pressure to marry and produce an heir. Camilla was then out of reach and Diana was beautiful and suitable. She had affairs too and Charles didn't cause her death.

But it won't be the same. We will miss our lovely, hard working Queen. I just hope there is an afterlife and she is with Philip.

So it has @debs64 and I just answered it. Maybe the mods didn't approve of what you said about Charles.

I am obviously not allowed to post on here about Charles.
I watched The Crown with great enjoyment and it really brought home to me and many others how much the Queen sacrificed her own wishes for her duty a truly admirable woman.
I hope she is somewhere wonderful now with her beloved husband enjoying a well deserved rest.
We will not see her like again.
  • @Crazybeelady I don’t recall the GW forum as special monarchy friendly. To avoid being hurt in my feelings about the big loss which emotionally touches me tremendously, I spared any comments.
