There seems to be no mention of flu vaccines down here yet or covid boosters for under 75s. But London is usually behind the curve on this kind of thing. Are other parts of the country offering boosters to younger folk now? I heard about 50+ getting it in certain places...

Our pharmacy won’t be offering flu vaccines to under 65s until October at the earliest.

Our practice nurse said probably mid-Oct or thereabouts for both flu and covid, for 50-64 age group. It might depend on how much vaccine they get and what the uptake is like in the older and more vulnerable groups.

  • But if you want to get your flu jab earlier just book in at your local Boots or SuperDrug … you don’t have to pay if you’re eligible for a free one, and they’ll notify your GP that you’ve been done so that reduces the workload on the GP practices.
    It’s very simple. 😊

Apparently the vaccines differ depending on age. Those for younger people are not available yet at our pharmacy but maybe they are available at larger groups.

Yes, the flu vaccine given is dependent on age.
How can you lie there and think of England

  • I have an appointment for mine, but very undecided as I feel the "brain fog" I now have, may have been caused by the last jab. On the other hand I have to protect my OH with heart problems?
I feel we will be mask wearing again soon, they forecast a bad winter with Covid/Flu.

If you are suffering from ‘brain fog’, would it be sensible to get that checked out? You may be unnecessarily missing out on your jab, and the additional benefit for your vulnerable OH, because of something else that could be easily treated, or a helpful early warning of something more serious.

I'll have to check and see if I can get one via the GP. For some reason I'm on their list for free ones (I guess because of my weight, but I haven't been diagnosed with anything) but last two years they wouldn't give me one because I'm too young so I ended up just paying for it at Boots. I had the proper flu once and I want to avoid repeating that experience if at all possible.
