Spinach

Hi, I have 3 pots with spinach leaves. They are starting to look unhealthy. A lot of the leaves are turning yellow, see through and withered. I removed as many ill looking leaves as I could yesterday. Any ideas what is wrong with them?

looks like the weather is to hot for  spinach.
    spinach like like cooler weather.
  • They look overcrowded in there.

  • I set spinach end of March to beginning of May and then early September to the and end of October anything outside these dates to me is a no go. It either gets caught with frost or dies off because of the heat. I usually set at the allotment but I have tried it in the greenhouse at home in trays outside of these perimeter dates but with very limited success.
  • I find growing swiss chard is a better bet, I usually grow the bright lights and I have always had good results if you keep cutting it it keeps growing, also I have grown spinach beet at this time of year which I find its less likely to bolt like the summer ones.
