Beetles set up camp on runner beans

Hi all. Returned from hols, and French Beans are OK - with a little help from my neighbour - but the Runners not showing at all, and are covered in a little black beetle with white dots. (Bit like a small ladybird). Should I try and humanely get rid of the bugs and hold out for more beans,  or surrender & pull the whole plant down. 2 runner beans the whole summer and the plant is pretty big...MTIA

They sound like ladybirds to me. Not all ladybirds are red.

There are probably some aphids on your beans and the ladybirds are dealing with them for you. 

Watch out for ladybird larvae too … they look weird but they eat even more aphids than they’re parents.
