After a long hot dry summer September has arrived … hopefully bringing some rain to lay the dust and save our plants.

Some have had a difficult summer, some still have worries and cares … this is where friends gather to say hello,  chat about the bits and bobs of life, the big stuff and the ephemera too … all is important here … and when we need a rest from bottling, jamming, freezing or turning the compost … or we’re just desperate for the chance to procrastinate for a few more minutes, this is where you can find a comfy chair, a singing kettle, a friendly ear and, if you’re lucky, there might be a biscuit or a slice of cake … help yourselves … everyone’s welcome …

Good morning all … there’s a rosy glow across the sky and the woodpigeons are gathering grit from the road at the bottom of the rise … it’s a clear still September morning … kettle’s on … 😊 ☕️

    Good September morning everyone.

The evening/morning temperatures are becoming autumnal finally.  Sunrise is a little later each morning.     We're hoping for another shower of rain tomorrow which, as you say @Dovefromabove will settle the dust.  Hopefully, you are feeling a bit better today.    Hello to Moira @punkdoc

Grape harvest is obvious with lots of sticky juice on the roads.  My FIL (87) fell over in the vineyard yesterday - apparently, his knee gave out.  He was alone and in his haste to phone one of us - the phone flipped away and he couldn't find it amongst the leaves and weeds.  A couple of cyclists heard him calling out and got him home.  He is none the worse off but has now been forbidden to go back to his beloved vineyards by himself.  Pruning season in a couple of months but one of his sons will be with him.  Can't keep him away.   He is going to a checkup at the cardiologist this afternoon.

A bit of excitement - not good excitement but not much is happening with the heat we have been having.
School is back today for primary and secondary pupils.
A la Saint Loup, la lampe au clou.   Yes, the evenings are getting longer.

    Enjoy your day

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • My commiserations to your FIL @tui34 … I have a knee like that, and I’m a fair bit younger than him. If he fancies a short holiday over here he could come and prune my small vine … it’s rampant and I’ve rather neglected it this summer … 🙄

  • @Pat E … we’re over here now  😃
Yes thanks I’m feeling a lot better … just being a bit careful what I eat now …
    How’s the verandah coming along?

    Good morning and G’day.

Thank you @Dovefromabove for setting up our September thread.

Niece is coming for a couple of days today. I have a few crafts lined up and maybe we can make the first apple pie of the season.

    Have a decent day all.
