I found this on a leaf at the edge of the pond today. Any thoughts on identity, please?

Difficult to tell, if it’s a big beast it could be an Elephant hawk moth, but I’m not good at identifying chrysalis.

Small one then, probably with our luck it’s a cabbage white 😀

It looks like it is almost ready to emerge ... I have put it back on the leaf and am hoping it doesn't get eaten before it has a chance to fly off. I don't think it is a cabbage white but it looks very interesting, whatever it is.
