Bought a scab resistant apple tree but…

Bought a scab resistant variety of apple tree and it’s looking like it’s got scab on it anyway 🙈

Can anyone advise me if the photos are maybe another issue? Or if there anything I can do as the tree just doesn’t look healthy 😭

Much appreciated

Is the tree in a pot? If so,

What kind of pot? Size? Material?

If in a pot, what sort of compost? John Innes No 3? Multipurpose?

    Where (roughly) do you live?

Have you had a lot of hot dry weather?

How often have you watered the tree and how much water have you applied each time?

    Answers on a postcard please…

No in ground well drained clay mulched with Farmyard Manure

    Glasgow

    Hot but not overly dry

Only water when it’s not rained for over a week and usually it gets a long soak with hose

Hmm, you seem to be doing everything that you should do.

Give it a jolly good talking to and tell it to buck up and that there are plenty more apple trees out there who would be happy to have a good home.

    That should sort it. 🙂

I’d contact the place you got it from and report it to them .Maybe they’ll replace it .
  • I got it from Dobbies so I might give them a call.

I’ve put down some more mulch so I’ll see if that makes any difference.

Do we think it looks like scab?
