Ladybird numbers.

I've just realised that i haven't seen a single Ladybird this year.
Is anyone else noticing a lack of them?
I even released 100 larvae earlier this year for an aphid outbreak.

They’ve been spending their summer hols on my runner beans … lots of native ladybirds on them. 🐞

Must be just a local thing then. :)

Only one or two in the garden but, loads of different types at my local nature reserve.
  • Have seen very few this year.
Only had a couple of lily beetles as well.
Seen more earwigs than ever before.

We had loads in the spring and I've come across the occasional one keeping to the shade since then.  Not that many aphids either.  But lily beetles galore when the lilies were emerging.

I've only seen a few all summer. Maybe the cold dry spring didn't suit them.

We must have them all ... I noticed early in the spring that a lot seem to have overwintered under the loose flaky bark of the grapevine ... coming out on sunny days to catch a few rays.
