My pepper keeled over

I had a pepper plant growing very well in the greenhouse. Then for no clear reason it snapped off The end looked like this Any ideas what might have caused it Thanks John

I won’t have thought so as base knob is hard and looks as if it’s developed a canker growth.

Starting with the simplest question first … was it well supported with a strong cane or other support?

Probably the answer, as inside and in a pot felt there was no need. First year growing these so a valuable lesson learned. Thanks

Peppers and tomatoes can become very heavy as the fruit swells … always best to support them by tying to strong canes from quite small plants.
