I had a pepper plant growing very well in the greenhouse. Then for no clear reason it snapped off The end looked like this Any ideas what might have caused it Thanks  John

    rotted off because too wet?
  • I won’t have thought so as base knob is hard and looks as if it’s developed a canker growth.
    Thanks for your comment. John

Starting with the simplest question first … was it well supported with a strong cane or other support?

  • Probably the answer, as inside and in a pot felt there was no need. First year growing these so a valuable lesson learned. Thanks

We don’t know what we don’t know 😉

Peppers and tomatoes can become very heavy as the fruit swells … always best to support them by tying to strong canes from quite small plants.

Good luck in the future … enjoy your gardening. 👍
