Hummingbird Hawk Moth

Obviously he didn't stay still so I couldn't get a decent photo, but I've never seen one in the garden before!

We have many sightings here, they are quite common.  Sometimes, they get caught inside.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Seen on three occasions in the past week in my Sussex garden.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

Been seeing one a lot over the last 6 weeks - a first for my garden too!

Apparently they come over in numbers some years, and others we get very few. Must be a good year for them!
  • I've seen them a couple of times this year for the first time too; not quick enough for a photo unfortunately.

Like Tui, we have many in the garden, in fact we have more this year than butterflies.

I saw one on 25 June but nothing since. ( South Cumbria.) I can't remember which flower it was feeding on which is annoying.
