Bark around fruit trees

Is it ok to put bark around fruit trees in pots? Thank you

    I was told that it could cause rot around trunk of the tree if it keeps it too moist around it.  Is this true? 
  • Generally,  mulch of any kind should be kept clear of the tree trunk itself ( ie leave a small circular gap around trunk where there is no bark mulch, to avoid that rot issue ). Can't help if bark mulch is the best kind for fruit trees in pots, don't grow them.
    Kindness is always the right choice.
