As Dove recently said elsewhere, many of us on the forum are dealing with long term illness or injury. I find a day in bed is rarely time wasted. Rest is vital. Rest the mind with out filling it with rubbish; rest from running around; rest from news; rest from to do lists.
Don't get me wrong ... I do enjoy being busy ... but these days I can choose what to do and when to do it. There were days when I felt I'd visited too many overwhelmed families and been to too many children's funerals to ever feel that I've not done my bit.
So time wasting ... just doing nothing ... is very good now and then ...
Is noodling on a laptop with friends and new gardeners, occasionally watching balletic squid or laughing at silly Gifs or whatever they are, any more of a waste of time than 'wandering lonely as a cloud' or watching 'the dimpling river pass'?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Sitting in the shade on the terrace in a nice breeze after a long, hot day at work.... With something nice and cool to drink and listening to the bubbling water from the solar powered pond pumps drowning out the noise of the neighbors and most definitely wasting time..... I've earned it..... Bliss 👍

Gawd I've become addicted to watching a fellow on YouTube building a log cabin and creating a garden, lives in Canada and a fellow renovating a stone hut in the Italian alps. They upload their videos on Fridays and Mondays respectively. I'll never build a log cabin and neither will I renovated a stone hut. At least I don't think so, so that's a heck of a waste of time.
