All things are relative. Is strolling round the garden with a cup of tea "timewasting" even if it's good for the soul and makes you feel good? Is lying on a sunlounger, planning things to do " timewasting"?
Time spent resting or contemplating or doing frivolous things isn't wasted if it's doing you good. It's only timewasting if YOU feel like you've wasted your time.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
30 years in the NHS, highly stressful but so worthwhile. I feel I’ve paid my debt to society, so happy to count things like walks, gardening, cooking and eating as productive use of my time! Latest time waster is watching live webcams of waterholes in Namibia. We often leave the tv on as background while we are reading, cooking etc, and enjoy the wildlife visiting for a drink. Something so mesmerising about watching a herd of elephants having a wallow, or rhinos with their youngsters. All from the comfort of home. Not good at posting links, but a search on YouTube for Okaukuejo should find it, and https://youtu.be/ydYDqZQpim8 for another waterhole in the Namib desert.
I'm enjoying being a time waster and procrastinator @Dovefromabove !!
That's what the golden years are for. We've all worked and worked, been used and abused and now it's me time. I too, had to work until I was 66years and 2 months to qualify for a tiny tiny pension. @Petula W
Bedsores down here with the soaring temperatures, as there is nought else to do with your afternoon other than sit inside in the cool and waste time!! It's even too hot to sit in the shade outside. Impossible to venture outside before 7 or 8pm. Walking has to be done early - before 8. So there are plenty of excuses here to do just nothing.
I'm going to check that site out @Ergates Was watching an Osprey during the spring, hatching the chicks.
And these high temps are to last until the end of August apparently. Ho-hum!
I also enjoy being a time waster, much kinder to the planet. I’m wasting time at the moment listening to all the Hamish MacBeth audio books on YouTube. Spent a lot of time buzzing around here there and everywhere, travelling around, bringing up kids, my time now to do sod all if feel like it.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I am still working albeit only part time and I am a busy bee with friends and family but I don’t ever consider it a waste of time to sit in the garden with a drink and enjoy the results of my labours. I play on my phone too, watch tv and read. I wasn’t “put on this earth” to do anything and we all know that “all work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy”
