Weeds in block-paving drive

So many of them.  Every few weeks hoick them out with a scrapper but they come back.  

 might be a silly question ! If I mix weed killer with kiln-dried sand and brush it into the gaps would it kill any weed roots or seedlings before they pop up again ?

Weedol 'Pathclear' or something similar might give longer lasting control. You apply through a watering can so it soaks into the cracks, no need to faff around with sand.

Some kiln-dried sand already contains weedkillers.
I'm not sure about how to go about a DIY version.
