Runner bean leaves

Hi I’m having problems with my runners. The leaves turn white/yellow on the edges then turn brown and yellow. Then they wilt and die. This happens all over the plants not just on the bottom.

First thought is water shortage but you don't say where you are.  Could this be a factor?

When water is short I dib quite deep holes (up to a foot) 2-3 inches away from each plant, which I then fill with water to ensure it gets down BELOW the roots before it evaporates.
