Removing sand/gravel from grass

Hi all, I have recently had some hard landscaping done. I asked the landscaper to remove all this sand and gravel from the grass and was told they couldn't and it would eventually just sink into the soil.

I want to remove it now though so any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stiff brush, sweep into piles and then shovel into a bucket. You'll expose bare soil and damage the grass further but it will come back.

An old fashioned witch's broom is good for this. Is it a besum?
  • Besom. I found one in the shed when I moved hers (35 yrs ago) and it was handy for dry leaves (and Hallowe'en costumes).
Don't leave any humps. My mistake a while back.

Besoms aren't difficult to make if you can source birch/hazel twigs and a strong ash/chestnut handle.  Maybe a browse for 'country crafts' would go into detail.
