Are these seeds ready to collect?

Hello folks

have this lovely plant growing in my garden and would love to know (a) what it is but more importantly (b) how do I know when the seeds are ready to collect? They look ready but I have no idea (have never collected seeds directly from a plant). They are making a nice rattling sound.

Can I put them in the shed until next year, or chuck ‘em in the ground?

thanks in advance …

It looks vaguely like a clary sage.  If the seeds are black and will drop in your hand they are ready.  You can either scatter them on the ground , or save them in a paper envelope (not plastic) until march and sow in  a seed tray.

If you store them, keep them cool and dry. If your shed is damp in winter, they may go rotten.
