Jubilee plum tree - problem - what action to take
in Fruit & veg
We have a Jubilee plum tree which is about 5 years old. In the last fortnight or so, the leaves and fruit forming on the upper section of the central trunk have started to die back - see the photographs below. The rest of thee tree seems healthy at the moment, and fruit is forming.
I'd be grateful for advice on what is causing this and what action we need to take to try to stop the problem spreading.

It could be bacterial canker. It could be something else.
I’d suggest cutting out the affected branch and see if there is any staining of the wood in the centre. Look to see if there are any oozing patches on the bark.
They would help you to determine exactly what is wrong, but the basic thing to do is to get rid of the dead stuff.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
