🌻HELLO FORKERS 🌻July ā€˜22🌻🌻🌻

July is here … we’re starting to pick the tomatoes and beans, and the sunflowers and verbascums are reaching for the sky … and as always, we’ll chat with with friends old and new about all the bits and jobs of life sharing our triumphs and disasters, and making sure there’s a hand to hold, a hug to share and a shoulder to cry on …

But … because it’s really summer now we’ve hauled the sofas out onto the terrace and erected the parasols …

the kettle’s on for teas and coffees of course, but along with the cinnamon buns and croissants I’ve arranged for fresh strawberries and raspberries and unlimited supplies of Cornish ice cream Ā for us all … and when the sun’s Ā over the yardarm there’ll be lots of beeršŸ» and chilled jugs of iced tea and Pimms for allšŸ¹šŸ¹šŸ¹

… and the Campari and soda has my name on it šŸ·

… so find a comfy seat and start chatting …

Morning Dove, clear blue sky here, not a cloud. Life going on as usual, plenty to do in the garden.Ā  Got a friend staying in the Isle of Wight, says it's freezing....lots of problems with the Hotel, unfortunately. Hopefully everyone here is OK. Off to make my tea now and tour the estate!!!

    Morning all.Ā

It sounds idyllic @Dovefromabove. Pimms or Martini Bianco with lemonade for me.

Weather sounds good for gardening today. Sunny periods, 20°. Will be much hotter tomorrow.

I was going to watch Sewing Bee last night, I recorded it. Found the recording had failed, bother it. Was it the final? Don't think I've seen last week's eithet. I was feeling rotten with Covid then.

Oh dear ... I'm afraid my tennis was to blame for that @Busy-Lizzie ... Sorry ... can you get it on Iplayer?Ā Ā

I'm heading out early to the farm shop as son has arranged to have a guitar delivered here ... there's no one at his place to take delivery ... DPD will text him before 11am with the approximate time slot.Ā Ā

@Dovefromabove iPlayer isn't available abroad unless you have made illegal arrangements.

DPD have just texted that they'll deliver between 1039 and 1139 ...... I've decided to wait in and do the shopping after that, or even tomorrow ... I think tomorrow will be a good idea ... we can have a frittata and salad for supper this evening.Ā Ā

@Busy-Lizzie Sewing Bee repeat of the final is on again tomorrow morning at 9 am (10 our time). I haven't watched it yet either, tennis messed up the recording as they moved it to BBC2 but still listed it on 1!

I was trying to record Sewing Bee and watch the tennis ... it was complicated because the listing on Virgin was as the original schedule ... I had to change it all so that it looked as if it was recording the wrong programme and cross my fingers.Ā  Ā A few years ago the BBC did explain why things got swapped around like that ... IIRC it was very technical and had to do with arrangements/contracts with broadcasters in other countries ... but I can't remember the details.Ā Ā

Morning everyone,Ā  had the first of my new potatoes yesterday,Ā  always a landmark of the season.Ā  As I said on the RTBC thread if only there was a Trout stream at the plots I could get my whole dinner.Ā

Not sure if this is me, but I'm a bit miffed with D at Capel.Ā  I had asked him to let me know the itinerary for yesterday's visit, we were expecting the VIPs . Last time they came around 11am.Ā  I had a hospital outpatient appointment in the pm which I could have rearranged.Ā  When I got there yesterday I was told they weren't coming till 14:30.Ā  So after all the work I have put in I missed out. Part of the project was to show there is a team looking after the garden so if they sponsor it they know it will be maintained.Ā  Two other volunteers that have only been with us this year, normally come on different days, wereĀ  both coming in specially.Ā
