Does Achillea Red Velvet fade?

Hi, does anyone have an achillea Red Velvet and is it true that the colour doesn't fade over time (as claimed on some websites)? I bought another red achillea, can't remember which variety, and was disappointed when the flowers faded to pink; I didn't know this could happen. I would really like to have more red-flowering perennials, if not this year then next.
Thank you.

I found Red Velvet very disappointing. Yes it looks good when in bud and when the flowers open properly but mine faded quite quickly to a sickly pink. But it could possibly behave better in different soil.

All achilleas fade as the flowers age and mature.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Thank you both. Glad I thought of asking over here before going out to buy another plant.

All my achillias have faded to a dirty white,  including Cerise Queen.
