Flying ants day?

Went out for a walk yesterday and saw loads of ants in front of the house, apparently all with wings, some mid-air already. By the time we came back from the walk an hour later, they were all gone. Wonder if it was the flying ants day? Lots of website say it's usually in July so a bit earlier for that?

    I don't think they have a calendar 😏 I've always assumed it was to do with temperature. Ant day never seems to happen in a cool day 
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    Always seems to come on a warm, overcast day
