Dahlias - pinching out

DaisypicDaisypic Posts: 80
I planted quite a few dahlias out in the garden last September in various places, they were reduced as it was the end of season so wasn’t too worried if they didn’t come up this year, but to my amazement they have shot up and are growing fast and I only lost three.

However, I am wondering now whether I should I have pinched them out a week or so ago as they are growing like mad and one is already flowering, or do you only do that for new plants being grown from tubers?

Any advice please.

I don't pinch mine out, but they produce plenty of shoots on their own. I might pinch if I had one that only produced a few shoots.
