squirrel

Cuties or critters? I live close to woodland and i am visited daily by grey squirrels,I put food out for the birds, but for some reasons the squirrels dont think so.I have seen them physically detach the feed holders and carry them off.If it's not that i have seen them running up trees with the heads off my tulips.dispite this i still find them lovable critter's.I have had a pair off crows that have been chasing them off for a good reason i supose.Tell me what your views are?

Don't mind when they help themselves to bird seed, but get cross when they run off with my apples
Rats with good PR.
They plant oak trees where I don't want them. They eat camellia flowers, apricots and sweetcorn, even when they have enough of the birds sunflower seeds. If feeders aren't all metal they will chew through them. if they aren't tied down they wil drag them off to dismantle later. The large squirrel beater, they learned how to unscrew the top and go down the inside.
Good exercise for the jack russell chasing them. Jack russells are very clever and can spell. I only need to say SQ-- and he's on red alert.
As I live in France we only have red squirrels and they are really cute, but they are much shyer than English ones and wouldn't dare eat from a bird table.
I love watching them we live partially in a wooded area and keys they do some damage. But I enjoyed watching them last year gnaw the wood ladybirds off a bug house lol only to discard them in disgust.....
I feel so privilaged as to where i live, there are teo mighty oaks, one with the crows in and the other on the squirrels have thier drey,I have seen sparrow hawks yet still the squirrels go on.like fidgetbones say's they are a pain planting oak trees everywhere. I am still pulling them up late summer.
Pest
Want red squirrels back. They were here first. Caused less damage are not as aggressive and so much prettier. Rats with fur on to me.

Bring back the red's
One came into the kitchen when I left the back door open. I returned to find a squirrel running out of the back door with a plastic bag of teacakes under one arm.
I don't know what's going on around here - I live in Dorset on the coast and
although we have two or three local woodlands, where we used to see the squirrels
running up and down the trees every day - now there aren't any at all. It
seems to have happened in the last six or seven months. They were such
fun to watch and my dog used to love chasing them (even though she didn't
have a hope of catching them). Someone has told me that a cull of grey
squirrels is happening, in order to reinstate the reds, but surely that can't
be right - to wipe out a whole species and, if so, who is doing it?
