Very soon, I would say. Mine have been flowering since April.

Thanks @Fire is it normal for both Verbenas to look so different?

they lok pretty similar to me. The lolliop is not very much shorter than the standard. Both can grow straight upwards. I think it would enjoy growing in your gravel if there is full sun.

@Fire Is there alot of difference between them please?  My favourite is V Hastata.

Thanks @Fire the one in the first picture has very open growth, like every other Vb I have had and the other has very thick, closed in growth.

Anyhoo...hopefully it will flower soon and attract lots of butterflies.

@Sheps That is interesting to know. I have seen V Lollipop for sale and I am tempted!

@GardenerSuze here is a better view of the differing type of growth between the two.

    Regular Vb

    And Lollipop

They both look completely normal to me.

I can't say I noticed a difference in my own beds. But I'm not the best person to comment as I have the two mixed together and both and self seeded over time.

I would say that my own reg verbena bon tends to spread out with age; the seem to get bent by their own weight and rain and wind and take up all sorts of odd shapes and sprawl. I tend to clip off the awkward bit.

I noticed this corkscrew effect yesterday - verbena bon is a rather mad plant and feels a bit Jurrasic to me - like a determined lizard.

Just to say I have both too and v.b is out, lolliop is budding slowly so does seem slower.  Butterflies love it!
