One dahlia looking a bit bedraggled...

ki_buxtki_buxt Posts: 55
I have around 45 dahlias this year. 44 of them look normal, but one is looking decidedly bedraggled. Hope it doesn't have Covid like I do at the moment! There are four sets of leaves: two look normal and are growing, two have curled and turned dark green. They haven't developed much compared with the others. I haven't fed them beyond a layer of compost on the top of the earth about four weeks ago. Any tips on what I should do?

Sometimes you do get dahlias that just don't grow like the rest for no obvious reason.
Bumping this up in the hope that there's a dahlia expert who can advise.
    Hope you feel better soon.

Is there one plant in the pot? Maybe lay off watering for a bit until the soil has dried out. Maybe have a feel and see if some of the tuber has rotted. They can suffer from over watering early on. I wouldn't feed until buds are forming.

It has been watered regularly since potting, so you may well be onto something, Fire. Thanks. Will inspect the tuber a bit later today and lay off the watering.
