GW Live

Anyone going this weekend? My first ever garden show and very much looking forward to it! I'll be the one with bright blonde hair racing round trying to see every single thing. Give me a wave! 😁

Take plenty of bags and money/card, wear comfy shoes, and take plenty of photos so that people like me who would love to go can get a flavour of it :).

@Heartinthedirt, if you can l recommend taking your time unless you're really pushed. There is so much to see. If you can get there early at the time show opens (9am) it means you can get to see the show gardens before it gets too busy, but factor in the time getting off the motorway.

Being a tightwad, l also recommend taking a cool bag with sandwiches and drinks if you can. The food stands get really busy at lunchtime. Also it means you have more money to buy plants :) .

If you're going by car you can get a "pass out" to go back to your car to unload plants and start again. (Don't know if it also applies to coaches as they may have a different parking system).
There is also a very efficient bus service to and from the various car parks, the NEC is a massive site and walking to the car parks after walking round the show is knackering.
Also remember you have to pay for parking
    A bit more information here.

Make sure you see Frances's garden, it is terrific.   The borders are lovely too.

Atmosphere in the floral marquee is up a notch because there is music and dancing.
I loved the Grundy cider club garden, unusually in at marquee.
    Have fun.   I loved it.

Went today despite saying a few years ago never again. This time it really IS never again. Too many stalls selling non-gardening stuff. To many repeating stalls.
If you have never been before you will enjoy it. Forgive my cynicism!

Just home, had a great day - even got to ask Monty a question! Bought lots of lovely stuff, but think we might have missed a fair bit of it cos it was SO hot!
@Auntiemand, yeah, really liked Frances's Garden, a lot going on but didn't feel too much, loved her recycled greenhouse!
Going for 2 days next year 😁

Glad you had a good time, HITD..   Steve you old cynic  :D.
What I love about it is there isn't the formality of an RHS show, there is a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and it feels inclusive.   And you can buy stuff every day.
Not sure the food element is necessary but I guess it helps fund the gardens.

Great to see it on TV. I will get to an RHS show one of these days.

This was on the penstemon stand. Any ideas what variety it might be? Very small  flowers. I didn't realise they were related to foxgloves, snap dragons and linaria, but it makes sense.

    Many thanks

I'm not sure but the show guide is downstairs.   Will send you the nursery details tomorrow.
