What was the tool that Monty used on Gardeners' World?

He used a wonderful looking tool to remove the Agapanthus from their pots  in Episode 12 - does anyone know what the name of it is? I feel like it might help save me hours of wrestling on the ground with my pots

Looks a lot like a ham slicer. However if I used it for that purpose, my  mum would kill me.

I learnt the hard way that you only put agapanthus in cheap plastic pots that you are willing to sacrifice.

Baking type palette knife, was what MD was using.

If you snip off protruding roots from drainage holes can you not get it out of plastic pots easily?
