Sunflowers attacked

RoddersUKRoddersUK Posts: 489
Ones been eaten in half, the other two I have, the tops been eaten out.
Will these two recover, or pull out and give up?
In my mind, the budding stems gone, so the flowers gone?

Think I planted them out a bit early!

If the top has been eaten, it seems likely the bud will have gone, unless of course it acts like pinching out, and you get new leading shoots.

I've had a few smaller flowers down the stem, which later in the year I just leave, as I'm not going for the tallest plant.
Potentially I could have a tall sunflower with a few small flowers, but I'm not sure if it will do that or not, as I've not lost the main bud before.

Same thing happened to my sunflowers.  I only had 2 planted and the slugs ate both flower buds.  I also wondered whether they would recover.  I guess I'll have to wait and see
