Tool in Gardeners World

Hello there.  There was a tool Monty used in GW episode FRIDAY 3rd June when he was getting an Agapanthus out of a terracotta pot. It looked like a long thin blade or in fact like a metal school ruler lol 
any helpful appreciated.
