Passion flower

Can I plant my Passion flower at the bottom of a hedge so it grows up through the hedge

Depends on the sort of hedge
  • Hi thanks for replying it’s a large old privit hedge

That would look great! But won't you ever want to trim the hedge?
Is there room for the passionflower roots?
How much sun does the hedge get where you want to plant?
  • Thank you for your advice I hadn’t actually thought of having to trim!!  the hedge is quite sparse with lots of gaps it is in the sun all day

I wouldn't grow any climber through privet as it needs trimming frequently.
Privet likes lots of water, so it might be sparse due to being dry, or it may be the shaping of it that's causing gaps. A top heavy hedge means the bottom doesn't get enough light, and can therefore be bare.
A photo would help though, and that could help with advice to improve the hedge.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
